What is the Best Paralyzed Dog Drag Bag?

paralyzed dog drag bags

Drags bags are a great invention. If a dog’s hind legs are paralyzed, the bag goes over the dog’s legs.

This then has a few functions, it makes it easier for the dog to get around by dragging its legs behind it, but it protects the dogs rear legs from getting hurt as they are dragged around.

The bags are also great at stopping any mess from an incontinent dog from being dragged through the house.

Another option that might be suitable is to consider using with your paralyzed dog is a wheelchair.

A Video of Some Paralyzed Dogs Using their Drag Bag

As you can see from this very short video, the drag bags really help these disabled dogs get around much easier than they otherwise would.

Not only that, but they also keep any mess from an incontinent dog contained, which is great as dogs with paralysis often have incontinence issues.

Which is Better for Paralyzed Dog – Wheelchair or a Drag Bag?

This a good question, but there isn’t really one simple answer both the wheelchairs and the bags have advantages and disadvantages as a form of paralyzed dog care.

Drag bags are really cheap, easy to use, and don’t take up any extra room, so they are great in small spaces.

But the dog’s mobility will be slightly limited, and even though the legs are protected, they are still being dragged along the floor, which may be uncomfortable.

Doggy wheelchairs are strong and robust. They give the dog great mobility over rough terrain, and the dog can run a lot faster than in a bag, keeping the legs much more protected.

But the major downside of the wheels is that they are big and clumsy, so the dog may not be able to use them in the house. They also taker longer to put on and off your dog.

So the best answer is that if you can afford it, we would suggest using both options at different times.

Having both a wheelchair and a drag bag for your paralyzed dog would be a great combination to keep your pet pooch active and happy!
