Spoiler Alert!…Sadly, we would not recommend that you buy this particular bed.
BUT WAIT…we have some great alternatives for you to consider.
You will see in the Kong Dog Bed Reviews section below our reasons for saying this.
But please do not feel frustrated by this because we have some really great options and solutions to help you find an awesome bed for your pet dog.
We have found and suggested four other dog beds that we rate much higher than the one from Kong, and we have listed reviews of those below.
So, now you can make an informed choice, you can read all our reviews, and then make up your mind if the Kong Bed is the right choice for your dog or not.
We have broken this post up into two sections. The first section is a quick comparison chart. After that, there are our detailed reviews. Let’s get started…

So, now as we promised earlier, we will look at the Kong and four other brands of dog beds.
You will find a list of Pros and Cons for each of the pet products after the images.
KONG Plush Lounger Dog Bed | NOT RECOMMENDED!
No products found.
Sadly, we can not recommend this Kong Dog Bed, as we found too many unhappy customer reviews on pet owners forums and social media groups.
But we will still do our best to review it fairly. Comparing it with other dog beds and then letting you make your own mind up about if you think it is the best bed for your dog.
Pros:
- There are some positive reviews on social media.
- It is probably an ok bed if your dog never chews anything.
- It has a nice color scheme on the removable cover.
- Ok, we tried, but honestly, we are not very impressed with what we have seen!
Cons:
- This bed is sold as a chew resistant dog bed, but we found multiple reviews (on the forums), all from dog owners saying their dogs have chewed the bed severely, often within a few days of buying it.
- We also found complaints from people saying it is very poorly made and not built to last.
- Other dog owners report that Kong doesn’t make the bed, but they allow another bed manufacturer to use their branding.
- This could explain a lot; the pet products Kong usually makes are excellent, so it seems odd that something with their name would be so unpopular.
K9 Ballistics Chew Proof Elevated Dog Bed | Pupster Passion Rating
No products found.
So now we are going to look at a really Chewproof Dog Bed from K9 Ballistics. This gets a Five Star recommendation from us. Let’s take a look at the reasons why we like it so much.
Pros:
- This raised dog bed from K9 Ballistics is made of an aluminum frame and a ripstop ballistic, chew-resistant fabric built to resist all destructive behaviors, including chewing, biting, scratching digging.
- The elevated build gives lots of advantages, including increased airflow for cooling and hygiene. It is also much easier for dogs with mobility issues to get in and out (rather than a bed on the floor).
- It is waterproof and suitable for use inside and outside.
- It is easy to clean, all you need to do is give it a blast with a hosepipe, and you are done.
- You can buy this bed in five sizes from Small right the way up to Giant. So no matter if you have a toy breed or a Great Dane, you can find the right bed for your dog.
- This chew resistant dog bed is backed with a 180 Day Chew Proof Warranty.
Cons:
- None that we can find! We really like and highly recommend this bed, especially if your dog is an aggressive chewer.
Big Barker Orthopedic Dog Bed for Large Breeds | Pupster Passion Rating
No products found.
For larger, heavier dogs, this is probably one of the best dog beds you can buy. What is so good about this large dog bed? Let’s take a look and see…
Pros:
- Big Barker are a US-based company with an excellent reputation for making the best quality dog beds for larger dogs.
- Their beds are all made with therapeutic memory foam, which provides sleeping dogs with orthopedic support for their joints.
- The removable cover is chew resistant, heavy-duty, water-resistant, and safe to wash in a washing machine.
- It comes in three sizes, Large, Extra Large, and Giant.
- You can pick from a selection of four different colors.
- The Big Barker also comes with a Ten Year Warranty! They state that the foam will keep 90% of the original shape and for 10 years, or they will give you all of your money back.
- We highly recommend this bed for dog owners with heavy, large, or giant breeds of dogs.
Cons:
- Only built for larger and extra-large dogs. The manufacturers do not even suggest using it if you have a few smaller dogs as it isn’t designed to be comfortable for their body weight.
Some Final Thoughts on the Kong Dog Bed
We were a bit sad about writing this particular review.
We don’t like saying bad things about any company, but as many of the products made by Kong are so totally and utterly awesome, this one was even less fun than normal to write.
We feel that they lost their way with this bed, and it is a shame.
We hope and trust that they will be back on track with a much more improved and better made dog bed that will fit in better with their awesome brand of pet products.
Are Kong Dogs Really Indestructible?
No, sadly not, from the photos, videos, and reviews that we have seen online. Kong Dog beds are very easily destructible.
So please do your research before buying these beds for your pet dog.
What is the Guarantee Like for the Kong Dog Bed?
The truth is we are not sure! We looked around and could not find any clear details about the bed and any guarantee or warranty that might come with it.
This is just another reason why we feel it is not the best bed for your pet dog.

Just in case you think we are being too harsh, here is an honest Kong Dog Bed review from a dog owner who made her opinions clear on YouTube.
